Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) help students with disabilities, ages 14 to 22, start planning for work while they are still in school. O'Brien CMC is an approved ACCES-VR vendor, and our Pre-ETS program is coming soon. Join the interest list and we'll contact you when services open.
What Pre-ETS Will Include
Job Exploration Counseling
Learn about different jobs and industries, talk through your interests and strengths, and explore careers that could be a good fit.
Work-Based Learning Experiences
Learn about work through workplace tours, job shadowing, informational interviews, volunteering and simulated workplace practice in virtual reality.
Workplace Readiness Training
Build the everyday skills employers look for, like communication, teamwork, showing up on time and handling workplace situations.
Instruction in Self-Advocacy
Practice speaking up for yourself, asking for accommodations and making your own choices about work.
Postsecondary Options Counseling
Explore college, job training and other programs after high school, and what it takes to get there.
Who can take part
Pre-ETS are for students with disabilities, ages 14 to 22, who are enrolled in high school, college, a high school equivalency or vocational training program, or homeschool. Services can be one-on-one or in a group, in school or outside of school. Students and families help choose which services fit.
Already working with an ACCES-VR counselor? Ask about a referral to O'Brien CMC.
No open ACCES-VR case? The student may be "potentially eligible." A past case that was closed still counts, unless it was closed as ineligible. We can help you and your school put together the referral: a form signed by school staff (and by a parent or guardian if the student is under 18), proof of disability such as an IEP, 504 plan or SSA award letter, and a signed release so information can be shared with ACCES-VR.
Services start only after ACCES-VR approves the referral.
