Who it's for

How each class works
Every class is one hour: a short lesson, hands-on practice in VR with a realistic AI avatar or your trainer, then a review of how it went. Classes are one-on-one. Your VR trainer tracks your progress so each class builds on the last.
What to wear
Comfortable clothing.
How to pay
$86 per class. VR Social Skills can be paid through an OPWDD Self-Direction budget if approved (Community Classes) or privately.
Common questions
What does a class look like?
A short lesson on one conversation skill, then practice in a realistic VR setting with an AI avatar or your trainer, then a review of what went well and what to try next time.
What is an AI avatar?
A realistic virtual person who talks and responds to you in VR, like a new acquaintance or a classmate. You can practice the same conversation as many times as you need, with no real-world pressure.
Can we practice a specific situation?
Yes. Tell your VR trainer about a situation coming up, such as a social event, professional event, or any specific real-life situation, and we can practice for it.
Do I need to know how to use VR?
No. Your VR trainer helps you put on the headset and shows you everything you need. Most people get comfortable within a few minutes.
Will VR make me dizzy?
Most people feel fine, since these classes are mostly standing or seated conversations. You can take a break or remove the headset any time.
What about seizures?
VR headsets carry a manufacturer warning for people with a history of seizures or epilepsy. If that applies to you, please check with your doctor before booking.
